Het Baken
Your starting point for discovering the island is information centre Het Baken. Here, you can book nature excursions and other activities – and even accommodations. Of course, we are also happy to inform you about the island and its nature. The exhibition introduces you to seals and spoonbills, lets you admire the night sky above the island, shows you unique plants and animals, and lets you experience the seasons on Schiermonnikoog.
Do-it-yourself activities
In addition to guided excursions, we offer many activities that you can do on your own. For example: our do-it-yourself nature activities for families on the beach and around the Westerplas, the WADDEN (mudflats) excursion kit from the Waddenvereniging, and the one and only Schiermonnikoog Bingo. Drop by the information centre Het Baken and choose the activity you’d like to do on Schiermonnikoog!
Schools
For schools, we offer adventurous excursions – for example, to the mudflats or the seagull colony. Experienced guides and rangers from Natuurmonumenten will accompany you on these tours.
